This Privacy Policy explains how Heart for Psalms ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use heartforpsalms.com (the "Site"). We keep this short and plain because we collect very little: you can read the Psalms, watch our videos and download PDFs without creating an account or telling us who you are.
Summary
- We do not ask visitors for a name, email address or account to use the Site.
- We use a small number of essential cookies to keep the Site working. Analytics cookies are used only if you allow them in our cookie banner.
- Embedded YouTube videos and PayPal giving are provided by those companies under their own privacy policies.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show advertising on the Site.
Information we collect
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, when you visit the Site we and our service providers automatically receive:
- Technical and log information: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, the referring page, and the date and time of each request. Our web server records this in standard server logs.
- Session information: the Site uses a session cookie. While a session is active we store a session record that includes your IP address and browser user-agent. Sessions expire after about two hours of inactivity.
- Analytics information (only with your consent): if you allow analytics cookies, we load Google Tag Manager and analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) that help us understand which pages and videos are useful. These tools may set their own cookies and collect information such as pages viewed, time on page, device type and approximate location derived from your IP address. If you reject analytics cookies, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, these tools are not loaded.
Information you choose to give us
- Email: if you email us at heartforpsalms@boreinu.com, we receive your email address and anything you include in your message.
- Gifts: our Give page links to a payment page hosted by PayPal. PayPal collects your payment details directly; we never see or store your card or bank details. PayPal shares limited information with us about each gift, typically your name, email address, gift amount and date, and sometimes a postal address.
- Administrator accounts: a small number of authorised administrators have accounts used to manage Site content. For those accounts we store a name, email address, a securely hashed password, two-factor authentication settings and active login sessions. The public cannot register for an account.
Third-party services on the Site
Some features are delivered by other companies. When you use them, those companies may collect information about you under their own privacy policies:
- YouTube (Google): videos on our home page, Psalms Library pages and Psalm Reader pages are embedded YouTube players in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (
youtube-nocookie.com), so YouTube does not store cookies on your device unless you play a video. When you play a video, YouTube may set cookies and collect viewing information. On Psalm Reader pages, the "More Psalm Videos" players load only after you click them. See the Google Privacy Policy. - Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics: see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- PayPal: processes gifts made through our Give page. See the PayPal Privacy Statement.
- Content delivery networks: icon and font files are loaded from jsDelivr and, on administrator pages, Bunny Fonts. These providers receive your IP address and browser information when your browser downloads those files.
- Sharing buttons: if you use the Share button on a Psalm Reader page, your device's share menu or the service you pick (such as Facebook or X) handles the share. We do not receive anything you post there.
Cookies and your consent
When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you Accept All, Reject All or Customize which cookies we use.
Essential cookies are always on because the Site needs them. Analytics cookies are off until you allow them.
We remember your choice in your browser's local storage (heartforpsalms_cookie_consent) for up to 12 months, then ask again.
You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie Settings link in the footer of every page.
We honour the Global Privacy Control signal as a rejection of analytics cookies.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
Session cookie (heartforpsalms_session) | Heart for Psalms | Keeps the Site working between page loads (strictly necessary). |
XSRF-TOKEN | Heart for Psalms | Protects forms against cross-site request forgery (strictly necessary). |
Analytics cookies (for example _ga) | Google, via Google Tag Manager | Measures how visitors use the Site. Only set if you allow analytics cookies. |
| YouTube cookies | Google / YouTube | Set only when you play an embedded video. |
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the Site from working. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
